Hwang Ui-jo new destination is the United States? a love call from MLS clubs
U.S. MLS clubs are making love calls to Hwang Ui-jo (Olympiacos).
European transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano recently introduced MLS’ love call to Hwang Ui-jo. Minnesota United, Chicago Fire, Portland Timbers, LA FC, and Vancouver Whitecaps are reportedly recruiting Hwang Ui-jo. Minnesota, in particular, has shown interest since Hwang Ui-jo’s days as a Girondin Bordeaux (France).
Hwang Ui-jo wore a Greek Olympiacos uniform in August last year for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. However, he played only 12 matches (1 assist), including 5 matches in the Greek league and 6 matches in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) After the PAOK match in October last year, he played only one game (the second leg of the round of 16 at the Greek Cup on January 12).
I lost my seat completely at Olympiacos. Local media also predicted that “Olympiacos will terminate Hwang Ui-jo’s lease contract.”
The problem is Hwang Ui-jo’s situation. It’s a little special.
Hwang Ui-jo left Girondin Bordeaux in August last year and moved to Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League, and immediately left on loan to Olympiacos.
According to FIFA’s rules on player status and transfer, you can register for up to three clubs during a season. In addition, only two clubs can play in official matches during the same period. Hwang Ui-jo played two games in France’s second division at Girondin Bordeaux and transferred. He played for Olympiacos and has already played for two clubs.
Other teams cannot play until the 2022-2023 season is over. It’s the same even if he returns to his original team, Nottingham.
Fortunately, there are exceptions. It is a league that is held during the Spring and Autumn Festival (Spring to fall). Not only the U.S., but also the Korean K League and the Japanese J League are representative examples. Europe is held as the Autumn Spring Festival (from autumn to the spring of the following year).
In order for Hwang Uijo to play in the game right away, he has to move to the Spring and Autumn Festival League. This is why MLS receives love calls. Romano added, “Not only MLS, but also K-League FC Seoul and J-League Vissel Kobe are showing interest in Hwang Ui-jo.”
